How to do a Properties check on a drive or folder 1. Run Nautilus as usual. 2. Navigate so that the relevant drive or folder appears in the right-hand pane among any other folders. 3. Select (highlight) the relevant drive or folder. 4. Right-click to bring up the menu. 5. Left-click on the "Properties" option. A dialog box will appear showing the "Basic" tab. 6. On the "Contents:" line, the computer will display how many directories and files there are, calling them "items". Allow it time to count them all up, which could take a minute or so for a large drive. Eventually it will finish showing something like: "38299 items, totalling 17.9 GB" 7. Note this, then select the box's "Close" button, or leave it open so you can compare with another one in case you cannot remember. 8. That's it. Done. -------------------------------------------
